Inception Workshop on “Promotion of large scale Tasar Sericulture based livelihoods in Bihar under Mahila Kisan Sashaktikaran  Pariyojna (MKSP).

Bhagalpur is known as SILK CITY as it is famous worldwide for its silk production. The silk industry in this city is 200 years old and a whole clan exist that has been producing silk for generations. Bhagalpur is well known for its sericulture, manufacture of silk yarn and weaving them into lovely products. Silk products is known to be distinct and special type. It is known as Tussah or Tusser Silk. Bhagalpur silk is a household name in India and the lovers of Bhagalpur silk fabrics is found all over the India.

Dr.N.Vijaya Lakshmi, CEO, Jeevika Bhagalpur on 18^th May 2015 for Inception Workshop on  “Promotion of large scale Tasar Sericulture based livelihoods in Bihar under Mahila Kisan Sashaktikaran  Pariyojna (MKSP)”. She also discussed on several points during the workshop such as promoting Techno- market linkage, market outreach, consumer awareness and quality.

She also visited several weaving clusters and motivated SHG members involved in this activity to develop a good quality weaving cluster.
